Cactus - rubbish, broken (a bit like the mental health system maybe?) Workshops and arts connection for all the mental health Lived Experience community. Suitable for brand new and experienced comedy writers, performers and creatives from other artforms. Turn all those observations and opinions about the mental health system and psych wards into comedy gold! Comedy is for anyone who wants to have the last laugh at that annoying thing (even it's just the cat). Learn the art of Cabaret through a series of practical workshops with very talented cabaret creatives and directors Myf Powell and Rachel Edward.
The term 'cabaret' evokes everything from glittering theatrical performances to darker metaphors of political and societal oppression (perfect for anyone irked by the mental health system!) It's theatre, song, music and comedy all rolled into one glorious artform. If you tend to have feels for life, love, loss or laughter, or just enjoy a good old song-and-dance, cabaret is the artform for you.
